Our Activities

All the children are trained to be self sufficient. As they are quite busy with their school, they have schedule to stay responsible for their own daily routine. Starting at 5 in the morning, the children begin with a prayer, shower, breakfast and preparation for school. With many students in the house, it is important to have schedule doing the housework. Children having afternoon school prepare the lunch and clean the house, and the students who have morning school organize dinner and do afternoon housework. On Sundays or school days off they have morning exercise at 5.30 before doing their occasional chores. In the afternoon they are required to choose one of compulsory activities.

A variety of activities are organized to complement the formal education. The children are happy to have activities such as dancing, painting, music, and traditional self defense art. There is also mejejahitan as a compulsory activity. This activity includes plaiting special ornaments from young coconut leaves which are used for offering supplement.

Certain required daily and weekly activities need to be continued and sustained in order for easy and smooth running within the orphanage. We have some ideas to do in the Orphanage such as teaching English, giving practical basic computer skill training or courses in tailoring, gardening, farming or automobile repairing. The vocational trainings to the children are hoped to enable them to be better equipped to seek jobs. These activities are still planned and we need volunteers to involve in orphanage activities, as any contributions are always gratefully received and will make a real difference.
